6 Killed by An Explosion at Kabul University
By Staff, Agencies
At least six people were killed and 23 others injured by an explosion at the entrance to Kabul University in the Afghan capital, officials reported early Friday morning.
An official said the explosion took place near the university's southern entrance, with local media reporting that at the time students were lined up outside the gates ahead of an exam.
"6 people have been martyred (killed), & 27 more wounded, as a result of today's explosion in Kabul," tweeted health ministry spokesman Wahidullah Mayar, adding that all the injured had been taken to hospital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility from militant groups.
He said the blast had been caused by a sticky bomb, a common threat in Kabul where criminals and insurgents often slap explosives under vehicles.
