Hezbollah MPs Hand Lebanese FM Petition in Protest against US Ambassador’s Interventions, Urge Him to Take Action
Loyalty to Resistance Parliamentary Bloc handed Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti petition in protest against US Ambassador Dorothy Shea’s irregularities towards diplomatic principles and doctrines.
The bloc noted that not drawing the ambassador’s attention to the international agreements made her unrestrained in her unrestricted and unaccounted statements.
The lawmakers slammed the statements Shea made two weeks ago, calling for the necessity to stop her where it must be as it harms the national cohesion and creates a gap between the same people and political spectra.
The Hezbollah bloc further urged Hitti to make the US ambassador understand the Lebanese people’s strong protests against her statements and violation of Lebanese norms.
The letter noted that the US administration has always been aligned with the ‘Israeli’ hostility against all peoples practicing their legitimate and humanitarian right in resisting and confronting the occupation.
The bloc’s petition further stated that assigning the financial posts and other posts in the country is a mere Lebanese affair, and so are the Lebanese government, its components, age, plans and performance.
The petition also made clear that it is abnormal that the US ambassador intervenes in Lebanon and makes statements on issues that incite the Lebanese people against each other, adding that inciting sedition and provocation represent a described violation of the item [e] in the article 3 of the Vienna Convention.
The lawmakers concluded:
“Based on our keenness on our people who assigned us to represent them, as well as keenness on our country’s security and stability, we find a must to draw your attention and urge you to make the US ambassador understand that the Lebanese people strongly condemn her statements, keeping the choice for you to take the required measures to let her know that she must confine to the laws in force.”
