Rouhani Warns of Decisive Reaction to any US Political Blow to JCPOA
By Staff, Agencies
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic would take a decisive action should the US government attempt to deal a political blow to the 2015 nuclear deal.
Addressing a cabinet session in Tehran, Rouhani said the US has so far dealt economic blows to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA], but if the US seeks to harm the nuclear agreement politically, he warned that Iran will take a decisive action.
Rouhani further described the full support that 14 members of the UN Security Council voiced for the JCPOA and for the UNSC Resolution 2231 at a Tuesday meeting of the council as a “display of another political defeat for the US” vis-a-vis Iran.
He also reiterated that Iran will immediately begin to honor its JCPOA commitments in full as soon as the other parties fulfill their JCPOA commitments.
Relatively, the Iranian president highlighted his country’s policy of constructive interaction with the region and the world, saying Iran has established close ties with Russia and China in a way that the three nations are standing together over all regional and international issues.
