Stabbing Attack in French Town Leaves At Least Two Killed, Several Injured

At least two people were killed and several wounded in a stabbing attack in the French town of Romans-sur-Isère, local media reported, citing police sources.
According to the immediate reports, the attacker has been arrested. Police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.
Conflicting reports emerged on the number of injuries, ranging from five, as per France Bleu Drôme, to seven, as reported by the AFP.
One of the wounded is being hospitalized and in critical condition.
In full lockdown because of COVID-19, France is currently in its third week of self-isolation.
According to some of the early reports, the perpetrator is a 33-year-old Sudanese asylum seeker, with witness accounts suggesting the attack was driven by a terrorist motive.
Associated Press cited the prosecutor's office as saying he did not have any documents establishing his status in the country.
According to Le Parisien, the perpetrator lived next to the crime scene, and his roommate had also been arrested.
