Saudi Crackdown: Yet another Detainee Martyred Under Torture!
By Al-Ahed News
Once again, another evidence on Saudi brutality takes place, with little and shy media coverage, or even carelessness to shed light on the matter.
Since the life of any human being matters, the loss of this one deserves to tell the world about it.
After the detention of Hussein Abdul Aziz Al-Ribh in 2017, activists concerned with the injustice taking place against the Saudi kingdom’s Shia minority population reported that the man was martyred as a result of the inhumane systematic torture at the hands of the General Intelligence staff in the notorious Dammam General Intelligence Prsion.
The martyr is a father of two, he has been in solitary confinement for 8 months, and was held under arbitrary detention for more than two years since the Saudi regime’s siege of the Qatif eastern province’s historic town of Awamia in 2017.
He spent the entire period behind bars without a trial until he was raised as a martyr today on November 13, 2019.
The Awamia Siege was a landmark event in the province’s history. It has been witnessing ever since a heavy-handed crackdown by the regime forces, with repeated raids and demolition of houses, as well as terrifying residents and tightening the siege, preventing them from access to their basic needs.
All this was because the residents of that area wanted to keep their houses yet the regime claimed it is creating projects to renovate the area, while in reality they were tending to displace its people.
