By Staff, Agencies
French President Emmanuel Macron and his government expressed willingness to help Lebanon, in a message delivered to President Michel Aoun Wednesday by a French envoy.
Macron’s envoy, Christophe Farnaud, delivered a message to Aoun in which he stressed “France’s interest in Lebanon’s situation and its willingness to help Lebanon in the current circumstances,” according to a tweet by the presidency.
Farnaud, the French Foreign Ministry’s envoy for the Middle East and North Africa, had arrived Tuesday in Beirut for talks with senior officials focused on defusing the crisis resulting from the government’s resignation and to urge rival leaders to accelerate the formation of a new Cabinet.
