UN Hails Ansarullah Proposal to Halt Attacks on Saudi Arabia
By Staff, Agencies
UN envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths welcomed the Ansarullah revolutionary movement’s initiative to halt attacks on Saudi Arabia saying it “could send a powerful message of the will to end the war” in Yemen.
Griffiths’ Saturday comments came hours after the Ansarullah announcement, and a week after the resistance group claimed a strike that crippled a key oil facility in Saudi Arabia.
Griffiths called the aggression forces for “taking advantage of this opportunity and moving forward with all necessary steps to reduce violence, military escalation and unhelpful rhetoric.”
Saudi Arabia has led a bloody military coalition against the Yemeni people since 2015. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of civilians.
