The Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria [IMN] accused Nigeria's Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari of holding its leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah in detention till death.
In a statement signed by its spokesman, S.I. Ahmad at the end of a protest march in Abuja on Wednesday, the group expressed concern about the failing health of both Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife.
"Are the tyrants holding the brave Sheikh captive waiting for time to kill him since Allah has rescued him from their attempt to kill him using their military might?" the group asked.
"Sheikh Zakzaky has been shot at close range, for him to die, but Allah wish to see him alive from the barbaric December attack. He has been denied proper medical care, but he is still living," Ahmad said.
The IMN further stressed that Sheikh Zakzaky, who is still carrying bullet wounds, is yet to recover from the effects of the stroke he suffered few weeks back, adding that his wife suffers from stomach and cartilage issues.
The group vowed not to stop the protests until Sheikh Zakzaky is released from illegal detention and until justice is done for the 2015 Zaria massacre victims.
