Imam Khamenei: Compromise with US not to Solve Iran Issues
Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei warned that compromise with the United States will not resolve the country's problems as Washington had not set aside its hostilities towards the Iranian nation.
In a Thursday meeting with a group of Iranian students in Tehran, the Leader warned that the Americans and certain parties seek to persuade the Iranian society that compromise with Washington would settle the country's issues.
"This mindset, which is very dangerous, says ‘if we compromise with the United State, all of the country's problems will be resolved'," said Imam Khamenei.
The meeting comes as Iran prepares to commemorate on Thursday the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the US embassy by Iranian students in the capital, Tehran.
The 13th day of the Iranian calendar month of Aban, which falls on November 3 this year, is known as the Student Day in Iran, marking National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance.
On this day, a group of Iranian university students took over the US embassy, which they believed had turned into a center of espionage aimed at overthrowing the Islamic Republic in Iran following the country's Islamic Revolution earlier in 1979.
Imam Khamenei further highlighted US enmities and plots against the Iranian nation over the past three decades, saying Washington has proved it never abides by its promises.
The Leader recalled his numerous warnings over the US role during the process of nuclear negotiations with Iran, saying "currently, it is not only me saying that they break their promises, but Iranian authorities, and even the nuclear negotiators themselves, speak of the US breaching its pledges."
Washington's main goal is to hinder the Iranian nation's progress, warned Imam Khamenei, adding that the US has never stopped its hostilities towards the Islamic Republic.
"How would a government, which has never stopped its hostilities towards the Iranian nation even for a single second, solve the country's issues," asked the Leader.
The 1979 takeover of the US embassy by Iranian students was a "natural response" to Washington's hostile policies towards the nation.
