By Staff, Agencies
Lebanon recorded 1,173 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported Sunday.
The new numbers bring the aggregate to 592,156 cases and 8,011 deaths in Lebanon since the virus was first discovered in February 2020. Out of the latest figures, 38 were among travelers arriving in Lebanon.
Lebanon has been experiencing a new wave of the virus since the discovery of the Delta variant at the start of July.
While normal activities have resumed for much of the population with many people disregarding social distancing, there has been a surge in cases.
The government has announced that there might be a lockdown in September if the cases remain on the rise.
