Lebanon Records 1019 COVID-19 Cases, Virus Deaths Top 8k

Lebanon recorded 1,019 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported Friday, as total deaths from the virus exceeded 8,000.
The cases were found among 19,151 tests, resulting in an average two-week positivity rate of 8.8 percent.
The report also said that 449 people were in hospital with the virus, including 202 patients in intensive care and 47 on ventilators.
The new numbers bring the aggregate to 589,597 cases and 8,004 deaths in Lebanon since the virus was first discovered in February 2020. Out of the latest figures, 14 were among travelers arriving in Lebanon.
A total of 3,690 first-dose vaccine jabs were administered, bringing the total to 1,350,203, or 28.3 percent of the eligible population, as well as 9,069 second-dose jabs, resulting in a total of 1,110, 263 individuals or 23.2 percent of the eligible population now fully vaccinated in Lebanon since the vaccination began six months ago.
