ITU Condemns “Israeli” Violations of Lebanese Telecommunication Networks
Local Editor

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Conference held in Mexico condemned the piracy of the "Israelis" on Lebanon's GSM and landline phone networks.

During the conference, the ITU confirmed that telecommunication in Lebanon has witnessed, and is till witnessing, a great deal of piracy, breakdown, and overlapping, in addition to being used by the "Israeli" enemy to trigger incitements.

In this context, the ITU stressed on Lebanon's right to receiving compensation in return of the damages the "Israelis" caused in the Lebanese telecommunication networks.

The ITU's decision came after great efforts exerted by Lebanese Telecommunication Minister Charbel Nahhas, followed by a Lebanese complaint against the "Israeli" violations in the UN Security Council (UNSC).

Lebanon faced some obstacles in trying to convince the UNSC with its complaint, where at the end of the voting, out of 124 UN representatives, 43 voted in favor of the complaint, 23 voted against, and the 57 rest did not vote at all.

In an interview with As-Safir newspaper, Minister Charbel Nahhas praised the efforts of the Lebanese delegation, which faced something similar to a diplomatic war in its complaint and conviction against "Israeli", adding that the delegation's decision has the same impact as that of the UN on the telecommunication level.

On his part, Head of Parliamentary Media and Telecommunication Commission, MP Hassan Fadlallah told As-Safir newspaper, that convicting "Israel" is a great achievement to Lebanon, and it's an international record confirming the outrageous "Israeli" aggression on the telecommunication sector.

MP Fadlallah added that the "Israeli" telecommunication violations included espionage and technical control, which will need intense supervision and follow up by the government, in order to take advantage of this ITU stance, especially in the context of accusing "Israel" of its aggression.

MP Hassan Fadlallah also stressed that the government should work thoroughly in protecting the telecommunication sector, under the frame of protecting Lebanon in confrontation with the enemy.

It's about time that some international stance sheds the light on the piracy and dangerous aspect of the "Israeli" constant violations against Lebanon.

Lebanon has always been a target of "Israel", where the latter constantly tries on demolishing its interior by triggering incitements, in order to have the cost clear and attack at any time.

Lebanon should now be aware of the "Israeli" schemes, not allowing any violations pass by without punishment, especially in private and governmental sectors, where they are considered to be strictly domestic affairs that "Israel" has no right in.
